Charm describes the Cottage Garden. It is full of hardy herbaceous perennials, vegetables, herbs, spring bulbs and annuals. The Cottage Garden reflects the glorious informality and profusion of a nineteenth century small garden. Plants include Rosa ‘The Cottage Rose.’ (of course.) ‘Tess of the D’Urbevilles’ and the old rose ‘Sombreuil’ intertwined with honeysuckle which picks up the colours of the opening buds perfectly. The greenhouse is planted with tomatoes, chillies and squashes.
